anytime dude...i aint losing nothin..
btw, its cool if u can organize such event, or should i say its a NHB comp rather than the so called msian ultimate fighter. Other than bernard, adam is a good addition to it, + we have lotsa ppl diggin into mma comp such as the guys fm MMATC & those who train with kambiz.
Indeed this time around ur suggestions make sense (as i said, the media might have stirred & spiced ur prev article) coz ur making things clear that the 'survival fight' has already hit the ground, but i the article i got the impression that what ur suggesting is a "preventative measure" than "escaping methods". & dividing it to diff phases makes the argument clearer.

Anyway, i just want to ammend some of ur points. Other than considering the different phases of attack, one should also be considering about the attacking distance. I aint explaining mo coz im sho ur aware of it.+ when the attacker gets closer, most victims may have more pressure in defending theirselves, and as u suggested their strength is not gona win the situation. Furthermore, i think the use of force is more accurate in describing ur appoach, as in F=ma, the force generated dznt only depends on the mass (or else the bloody fat attacker still gona win) but also acceleration. Even tho in a limited space, acceleration can be high, but to reach a maximum velocity is another story & it dznt matter much. Indeed, a small amount of force to the vital target helps to 'fix' the situation but rather than projecting the methods (since u also mentioned the attacker might also know MAs) IMO renjis or sengat lipan is a good alternative to driving the thumb.

Neway, good to have discussion with u. However, it would be better if the guestbook serves its purpose as guestbook, while discussion deserves to be in the forum. Hope to see u around in MCM.

ps: Just dont organize a rape & survival comp 4 the sake of proving the theories plzz... LuLz =P

Hi there. Thank you for your reply. Indeed you are a true gentlemen by publishing my comment and didn't delete it as some would do.

When i say legal street fight, what i meant was that it can be held in a ring much like a kickboxing match. It is legal, right? Therefore, it doesnt carry a misinterpretation.

Secondly, in a CQB, your legs are bound by the rule of engagement. The closer it is to the body of the assailant, the shorter the travelled distance. The shorter the distance, the ability of delivering adequate force would be limited and doesnt carry much force. Hence, a thumb poke or thumb jab at the windpipe or solar plexus would delivers a much greater force due to the anatomical weakness of the said part.

You see, in a rape crisis,a lot of women will try to kick the penis. Unfortunately, none had thought of it to having the proper distance to strike. In as fast as 3 second, the attacker will try to bring the victim to the ground. At that moment, victim will be mentally and physically paralysed because their body had been pinned down. What they do next will be kicking outwards and by doing so, open up their legs and exposed themselves to the rape in progress. Not only it will drain her energy rapidly but will in effect 'assist' the crime. Therefore, as an added advantage for those within that situation, a jab will be more practical and effective, innit?

Visualize this; pre attack, attack and post attack. Should you are in the pre attack situation, u might have the ability to kick. At the point of attack? No chance at all to use the feet. The best defense would have to be violent and strategically placed to stop the fight pronto. Hence the usage of just 5 kilograms of force targeted at the most exposed and within reach of the anatomical parts (windpipe, solar plexus, eyes, either side of the neck, etc.) would be the ideal measure to bring a desired effect.BTW,there are 9 critical zones in a human body. Each would have the ability to stop a fight in an instant. It doesnt matter if you are 85kg person or just 45kg person. If a 45kg person can deliver a 45kg mass through the usage of his or her body, it is enough to stop any fight.

I hope you are satisfied with this rationale explanation. One thing more, I know Allahyarham Ustaz Hanafi. I had stayed in Kg Baru sometime in 1986. My peers are Indra Che Muda, Ikhlas Redzuan, Bro Zul Insurance and many more who are still in contact with me.

Thank you again.

touche.
Hi kamal, thx for ur effort in approaching me as well as listing ur contact details so we can have more discussion. However, since u already left ur 'sig' in my guestbook i may as well reply here so my network or other guests wont get me wrong. I'll send a copy of this to ur email too. Cheers.

1st of all, i'm sorry if u get the msg wrong. Hope u dont mind reading it back:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Sir, u started steady but lost it when reaching the end. First u say:

“Kicking where it hurts most” does not always guarantee success, especially if the victim is too scared to hurt the attacker or misses the target, resulting in helplessness as she loses energy from the whole episode.

then ironically u suggested:
Focus all your energy on your thumb and thrust it into the attacker’s throat, aiming at the dent between the collar bones. Stick your thumb into his nose and use your forefinger and middle finger to jab into his eyes and cling on for dear life until you are freed from the attacker’s grip. Then run!

Im not disagreeing coz u sorta say 1 of the suggestions in the "Basic Self defence" thread is not effective, but ur alternative to that is rather more risky:
1) Thumb and kick, which 1 is sturdier?
2)"The dent between the collar bone" is very small target compared to the opening for hard-rooster waiting to blow some shhh. + in a panic situation, aiming to that target is rather m16-ish rather styerAUG-ish.
3)ok2, i assumed the attacker is stewwpiidd as well since the attack within his visionary field cant be dodged, but the one outside it can be blocked with his eyes closed while preparing the condom.

I know im not in the position to say im 100% right nor he can reply to my comments, but puhleezzz..can the reporter, writer, & editor of the newspaper have mo rationale & commonsense???"

or u can review the topic agn at:
http://martialarts.com.my/community/modules/news/article.php?storyid=566
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So Kamal, & my guests, do u guys find any line which can be interpreted as: "the crime analyst who gave, as you claimed, stupid comment at MCM website." If u do, my apologies to Kamal. However, i may clear some of the possible misintepretations that arose (from the comment above):
1) "Sir, u started steady but lost it when reaching the end. " - which means ur opinions r kool, but then u say something that conflicts ur very own opinion in the 1st place (described by the phrase "then ironically u suggested")
2) "ok2, i assumed the attacker is stewwpiidd as well since the attack within his visionary field cant be dodged, but the one outside it can be blocked with his eyes closed while preparing the condom." - which translates to the attacker is as foolish as the defender (verily, the term "as well" dznt refer to u), coz as i rationale the situation dznt make sense (+ if u look at the emoticons on the original page, hope understand what does it means)
3) "I know im not in the position to say im 100% right nor he can reply to my comments, but puhleezzz..can the reporter, writer, & editor of the newspaper have mo rationale & commonsense???" - indeed, im just a mere community member, u can always agree & disagree with my opinions. Just a suggestion: The simplest way for u to give feedback is by i) Become a member of MCM (instead of multiply) then leave 'ur comment on my comments' i.e we make it a discussion ii) Become a member of MCM and leave me a PM. iii) u dont hafta sign up for MCM or multiply, just send me an email, i've put my contact details on MCM's profile page. iv) ok2, leaving a 'sig' in my guestbook will do =P (maybe u clicked on my aoki & imanari sig) regarding the news guys, IMO actually they can do better rather than just being the middlemen.

So, with due respect Sir (& if u read again..plz..plz, I started the very comment by addressing u with the same manner..& did that cause any harm to you?), if u can point at the specific "misuse of words" plz... point it out, or tell the admin to ban me from the forum. + if u realize, i can simply delete ur 'sig' from my very own guestbook then keep it silent as if nothing happened, but i didnt. I prefer if we can exchange ideas & get to know each other i.e it's a win-win situation (Hint: If u dont mind, u can sign up 2 become a member of MCM & contribute ur ideas with the community rather than thru mass media, which may stir & spice some things up)
Btw, I'm a pesilat cekak (hanafi) too, maybe we can catch up with each other after im back home. Since ur profile says ur from shah alam, cmon..drop by at intec(kolej cemara & akasia) training ground, or masjid tun raja uda (sorry i cant confirm the time since i've been away for years). + im also doing judo, which uses the same principles like aikido but with different approach.

Phew...Hope that clears up everything. oh but im not just done yet. If u can, plzzz..plzzz don't make conflicting statements or ppl tend to get confused and their reply might not look 'pretty' to one's eyes...Regarding:
"I could arrange a legal street fights between you and real criminal" dont u find the definition of LEGAL ironic to the phrase "street fight", and "A legal street fightS" can cause more misintepretations. Besides, "This is not a challenge. Rather, it is to put your theory to test" simply mean "to challenge the reliability of the theory".
Ur consideration is very much appreciated.

Ermmm...sorry i cant stop babbling.My bad...Neway good to hear from u ;)

Hi. My name is kamal affandi hashim, the crime analyst who gave, as you claimed, stupid comment at MCM website.

I am not angry but a bit annoyed. As i said, super ego of people who has learnt a step of two in martial arts will sometimes made them felt superior and immortal. Thus, they will 'try' to defend themselves in a given situation. Needless to say, we had had our national champion died in a real fight with criminals.

First and foremost, in practise or what we called control situation, you would be able to sustain the artificial fight because there are rules and regulation. But in real Close Quarter Battle, there are no rules.

Second, in a fight, certain people tends to prolong the fight. In the real case, the priority is to end the fight pronto.

I am not speculating on your ability to understand what i said but i dont think you had been in a real street fights. I served 7 years in Serious Crime Division and had been in CQB with real criminals many time. Not only some of them has hand weapon, but some of them has martial arts. Speaking from experience, i know which areas will be exposed and which areas will be guarded.

In my opinion, the most practical combative self defense to save oneself would be Silat Cekak and Aikido. These are the most practical offering enough strength and forces; dynamic and momentum. I dont mean disrespect but others, as aptly name, are an art form or sports.

I could arrange a legal street fights between you and real criminal who has the motivation, determination and more focus on getting away rather than staying and kidding around you. This is not a challenge. Rather, it is to put your theory to test.If I'm right, then it would only confirm what i said. Should you survive, if , then at least you would have the idea of how fast a street fight is and would have better perspectives of it.I would wait for your confirmation. What say you?
